morning inspiration
Lao Tzu, the Father of Taoism, said, “Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success. Always be on the lookout for ways to turn a problem into an opportunity for success. Always be on the lookout for ways to nurture your...

China's Forced Repatriation of 31 North Korean...
Dear friends, We are sad to convey that the North Korean refugees that had been detained in China have been forcibly sent back to North Korea.  The group, numbering at least 31, included a teenager whose older brother and sister were already in South Korea, a father with his daughter, a mother and her two children, an elderly woman of 70 years old whose daughter was waiting for her in Seoul,...

Force a smile on your face! Just do it! Force it!...
I’m noticing how pissy i’m getting these days. At commuters. At work. Work colleagues. Annoyed and pissy. Stressed stressed stressed. You can see it in the air too. People are noooottt happy. We are all bundled up in our coats, hating the cold and the darkness. For example, a crowd of us are waiting at the bottom of the escalators, waiting for our turn to get the heck out of the metro...

A great reminder and something I'm aiming to do...
Go for more bliss, less stress. Don’t wait for vacations to tame tension. Both high anxiety and lack of sleep mess with the absorption of blood sugar. Getting less than 6 hours of ZZZs a night doubles diabetes risk, as does a high-stress job. Ease your angst by turning in early, exercising to blow off steam, and finding a stress-reduction technique, such as meditation or yoga, you love.

sometimes i have crazy dreams
..like last night when i dreamt there was a giant purple octopus grabbing people with its tentacles and dragging them into its dungeon. i was doing everything i could to save people and myself. so unfortunately, it wasn’t the best night of sleep but i do think this was one of my most creative dreams and a part of me wishes i could be that creative in reality. but as long as i remember the...

the best thing you can do for yourself
i’ve been getting into meditation more this year and its benefits are so wonderful that i had to write a post about it. i’m not an expert on meditation but i know that i reap its benefits. i recommend guided meditations; they help me focus and stay motivated to do it. meditation not only calms me down because i’m breathing more and bringing more oxygen into my body, but i become...

a historical event
I never felt an earthquake that strong before.. or to be politically correct, the after-shock of one from Mineral, VA. I hear it reached as far as Michigan, NY, Massachusetts, and Canada and as south as North Carolina. 5.8-5.9 on the richter scale and 3.7 miles deep (shallow quake, feel more on surface) for a good 30-45 seconds. I was in a meeting with clients on the 5th floor of my building in...

YOU FOR ME FOR YOU
I will be involved in a staged reading of “YOU FOR ME FOR YOU” (by a new playwright Mia Chung who is getting her MFA in playwriting at Brown’s) at the Page-to-Stage festival at the Kennedy Center on Monday 9/5. I started reading the play this morning and I can’t help but feel inspired and the need to cry. The plot: Two sisters make a terrible bargain with a smuggler in...
